The wait for the next chapter of Sanctuary is nearly over. Blizzard Entertainment has officially confirmed that Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, the second major expansion for the blockbuster action RPG, will launch on April 28, 2026. This expansion serves as the climactic conclusion to the “Hatred Saga,” bringing players face to face with the Prime Evil Mephisto.

The Return to Skovos

The centerpiece of Lord of Hatred is the brand new region of Skovos, the ancient birthplace of the firstborn civilization. Located near the coastlines of Sanctuary, Skovos is a land of volcanic islands, storm-swept forests, and sunken ruins. Ruled by the Oracle and the Amazon Queen, this region is steeped in history and lore regarding Lilith and Inarius. Players will explore the new hub city of Temis as they navigate the corruption spreading from Mephisto’s presence.

Paladin and Warlock

In a series first, Lord of Hatred introduces two new playable classes:

  • The Paladin: Making its triumphant return, the Paladin is the ultimate holy warrior. Wielding hammers and shields, they use Auras and Holy Light to smite demons. Players who pre-purchased the expansion have already been testing the Paladin’s “Oath System” in the lead-up to launch.
  • The Warlock: Tearing open the veil to Hell, the Warlock commands infernal energies to decimate foes. This class focuses on dark spellcasting and summoning demonic power, providing a high-octane alternative to the Paladin’s disciplined defense.

System Overhauls and Endgame

Blizzard isn’t just adding content; they are refining the core experience. The iconic Horadric Cube returns, allowing players to craft and modify powerful items. For those seeking deep personalization, the new Talisman and Charm system introduces powerful set bonuses that don’t lock you into specific gear slots.

Endgame players can look forward to “War Plans,” a new feature that allows for a structured playlist of five endgame activities with customizable modifiers. Additionally, the “Echoing Hatred” raid like event and the addition of fishing as a side activity offer plenty of variety outside of traditional monster slaying.

With the level cap increasing to 70 and a comprehensive skill tree rework for all classes, April 28 is set to be the biggest day in Diablo history since the original game’s launch.
