Steam Gets a Wider, Sharper Store Page

Steam has rolled out a significant update to its individual Store Pages, giving PC gamers a cleaner, more immersive browsing experience. The most noticeable change is a greater utilization of screen space, with the pages officially widened to 1200 pixels. This change is optimized for modern, high-resolution monitors, reducing the amount of wasted space on the side margins.

Designed for Modern Gaming Including Steam Deck

This wide-screen approach is part of Valve’s effort to create a more cohesive and visually appealing experience across its ecosystem, particularly for the Steam Deck. While the Deck uses a dedicated “Big Picture” mode, the new design language of the Store Pages with its larger carousel and higher-resolution screenshots ensures that when users browse the web-based store on a handheld or in Desktop Mode, the presentation is vibrant and detailed, maximizing the visual impact even on a smaller 7-inch screen. The modernization efforts reflect a move toward a unified, controller-friendly interface, making the entire Steam environment feel more contemporary and consistent, regardless of the device.

New additions include Theater Mode and Full-Screen options for all video and image previews, making the media consumption experience far more engaging. Developers also have expanded tools for structuring the “About the Game” section, leading to richer, more visually interesting descriptions.
